1.
Rapidly crashing down Recklessly upside down Lonely lights I'll replace Blast off leave this place Thrown around blown away Blast off without a trace Now and then you will forget me In the end you'll always reflect me Here and now Rapidly crashing down Suddenly hit the ground
2.
Into the deepest sleep Mind clouds form Mind clouds wind Sink beneath the sea Trapped inside of me Rewind the tape you'll see Space divides us everywhere Dive into the sea Patterns form Patterns bind Possibilities Strange shapes over me Erase and repeat Space divides us everywhere Strange shapes over me Lines that form Lines that bind Tangled in between Tuck them underneath Erase and repeat Space divides us everywhere
3.
Through the warning signs Through the traffic lights In the signal fire In the way that we broke down Through the walls again Through my cells again Pass it back again Throw it back at me In the air we breathe And what's in between When you're not around Thoughts of you and me Nothing I can hold Nothing I can keep Hands into the dark As far as I can reach As far as I can go As far as I can go Out into the snow
4.
Nevergreen 02:28
I'm always on infinite repeat Coming back around It took me a long time to find Everything underneath Scattered all around Darkness nevergreen I'm always on so serene Sprinkled through the air Darkness nevergreen Waited a long time to try Everything in between Lightning through the clouds Darkness nevergreen I'm always on infinite repeat Coming back around Darkness inside you Is always on Something tells me It won't be long Every single piece Inside me that has died All in waves I believe so Second sight is almost always right Me darkness nevergreen
5.
Wake Up 03:33
Dead When we wake up Fall on the rise In a blink The momentary words surprise Let them in Like a slow drift Fall into place Leave it here For the other half to be erased Now we win Look away Cold in the moment Call second prize Do you think in this instance We'd be surprised Now we win In the moment Wishes to break Hope to disappear To be erased Now we win Dead When we wake up Fall on the rise In a blink The momentary words surprise Let them in Like a slow drift Fall into place Hope to disappear To be erased
6.
Electric lines twist and wind Tangled up like this While everything binds us as one Furthest from beyond the sun Lost in time adrift Burning out and dying like a star Wires wound together Tangled up like this Late night drive Split divide Moves that I regret What we hide and all that we've undone Furthest from beyond the sun Lost in time adrift Burning out and dying like a star Wires wound together Tangled up like this Thoughts that will collide A million things we set aside Things that we can't leave like this Fall to the back again Fall to the back again Falling back Dreams we had pushed aside A million plans left to die Things that we can't leave like this Fall to the back again Fall to the back again Falling back Dreams we had pushed aside A million plans left to die Things we left behind
7.
Wired Wrong 03:33
Never thought I'd say Your damaged past Blew me away Sweetest noise Makes us disappear Black skies to gray Hurtful thoughts Darken our day Sweetest noise Makes us disappear Sweetest noise Makes us disappear I'm wired wrong Get this out of here Everything went wrong When you went away Another miss today Removed my soul It just gets in the way Cut the ties Get this out of here Tied up and frayed Lines divide Slice me away Sweetest noise Makes us disappear
8.
Run Through 02:25
Each and every time Run for cover They'll run you through Second guess me all alone When you realize Run for cover They run to you Second guess me on your own Each and every time You walk away I'll pull you through Now I don't mind Undercover I'll pass right through Fading in and out On my own Any other time I'd run for cover I'd run you through Second guess me all alone Each and every time You walk away I'll pull you through And every other time you run I'll walk through you When you realize Run for cover They run to you Second guess me on your own
9.
Eraser 03:18
Thoughts are far away Sink back in this chair Memories drift away Like they were never really there Like they were never there Slide in quickly then melt away Like you passed through The way I remember you Really wasn't that way I'll break through the darkness So I can get through the day Drift away Guess I remembered this wrong Cover me quickly let it drift away All those years trusting you All those years what have I learned? All those years what have I learned? I've learned I have learned Cover me quickly I will go Cover me gently I will slip away You won't miss me tomorrow You won't notice in a week or two You won't notice I have slipped away You won't notice me drifting away

Sacramento-based Desario return with their fourth album and their first LP since III on Test Pattern Records in 2017. Signal and Noise finds the four piece jumping to Fort Lowell Records, an independent label out of Wilmington, NC, and churning out another tight set of indie rock tunes that mines a darker-tinged shoegaze rooted in British post-punk and new wave.

Signal and Noise starts off like a lighthouse sending out a solitary beam of light, piercing the night sky and stretching deep toward a dark horizon. That ray in “Lonely Lights” seems to move slowly at the most distant point in its rotation, guitars whirring to life, and appears to pick up speed as it rounds the bend and approaches with the rhythm section kicking in. But the record hits its stride on lead single “Strange Shapes.” The marriage of a dreampoppy, jangled guitar with a melodic bass line and that tick-a-tick 16-beat centered on the cymbals is great on its own. And then the fuzzy guitars join the fray on the chorus.

But Desario have other tricks up their sleeves on this one as well. They slow things down on “Things We Left Behind,” a brooding song that echoes something like MBV’s “Sometimes” but with an airy, ethereal vocal line placed more up front in the mix. “Wired Wrong” pushes things in a poppier if not peppier direction. It’s a simple enough pop song where the bass part grabs you before giving way to the repeated mantra-like “everything went wrong when you went away” chorus.

Look, if you eagerly line up under the banner that reads shoegaze for your music, then you hope they are playing Signal and Noise when you get there. The five year wait for new Desario is over and it is an album that should tide listeners over. There are enough layers to like about this one.
